Obituary For Fredric R Cozad

Fredric R. Cozad, 90, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at Bella Vista Nursing Home. He was born February 10, 1927 to Ray and Lola May Cozad. He grew up in Martin, SD and graduated from Bennett High School. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII. Fred later attended Chadron State College and law school at the University of South Dakota. He married Luella Bruhn, and they began practicing law at Martin. They were a team, Fred as the lawyer and Luella as the secretary-office manager. They were married for over 65 years. Fred and Luella had one child, Catherine Cozad Albrecht, Plankinton, SD and three grandchildren , Ferra Kemp, Amy Deichert and Justin Albrecht. Fred was a lifelong member of Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian Church, Martin, and a member of the American Legion for over 70 years. During his legal career, Fred held several county offices including County Judge, State’s Attorney and Veteran’s Service Officer. He served as a member of State boards including , Board of Regents, Board of Charities and Corrections, and State Vocational Education Board. After retirement from the law practice at Martin, Fred and his wife, made their home at Westhills Village, Rapid City. He was grateful for having shared his life with the love of his life and family.
