Obituary For Gertrude Anna Sperlich Woehl
Gertrude Anna Sperlich Woehl, 96, Rapid City, died Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Fountain Springs Healthcare.She was born April 29, 1919 in Wishek, ND to Julius Henry and Rozina (Nickisch) Wieczorek. She grew up and was educated in the Hillside/Parkston, SD area.Gertrude married Carl H. Sperlich on August 4, 1937 in Hillside, SD. They lived in Mitchell, SD where they had 5 children. After losing two sons to a fishing accident on May 4, 1952, they later moved to Rapid City. Carl died May 4, 1969.She later married William T. Woehl on March 6, 1970 in Pierre, SD. They lived in numerous places including Rapid City, Alliance, NE and Gregory, SD where Bill retired.Bill died on October 15, 1987 and Gertrude moved to Rapid City in November, 1987 to live with her daughter, Sandra Sperlich. She had lived in various assisted living facilities moving to Fountain Springs Healthcare until the time of her death.Gertrude had worked at Rapid Laundry and Black Hills Packing Plant but especially enjoyed raising her children and loved her grandchildren. She did numerous crafts including embroidery, crocheting and made many quilts.She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church.Gertrude is survived by 2 sons, Floyd (Colleen) Sperlich, Rapid City, James (Joette) Sperlich, Lemoore, CA; a daughter, Sandra Sperlich, Rapid City; 5 grandchildren, Corinna Robinson, Washington, DC and her sons, Jamil, Jovan and Julian; Cynthia and Trace Grabow, Rapid City and their son, Erik(Jamie); Lee and Brad Rieger and their sons, Tony and Ryan; LaVonne and Warren Frank, Kingsbury, CA and their sons, Dallen, Jarret and Kenton; Lanette and Jon Foote, Lemoore, CA and their sons, Mitchell, Jack and Daniel and 3 great great grandchildren, Alexis, Jace and Valery.She was preceded in death by her two husbands, two sons, Jerald J. and Lewis E Sperlich, four brothers, Ben, Harold, Dan, Elmer, three sisters, Paula Wieczorek, Alice Gall, Lillian Schrank and numerous nieces and nephews.
