Obituary For Glenda Mae Willadson

Glenda Willadson was born November 23, 1949 to Fred and Martha Slagle in Newcastle, WY. The Rosco Michael's ranch west of Newcastle was home. The family moved to Upton and two siblings were born, Vicki and Fred Jr. Glenda passed through Jesus to our Father on October 15, 2015 at Hospice House in Rapid City, SD after a 22 year battle with cancer. Glenda was married to James Willadson on October 28, 1967. They raised two sons, Scott Ray and Ron Lee in Osage, Wyoming. Glenda earned her GED in Newcastle November 17, 1972. She worked at Pamida, and Kiesling Oil Co., as well as baked wedding and specialty cakes on the side. Glenda and James divorced June 15, 1988. Glenda's father, Fred Slagle, died July 19, 1988. She had assisted in his care with her mother, Martha. Glenda took a job with Exel Erectors which took her to several states in the east and south. She tried various jobs around Laughlin, Nevada and Bullhead City, Arizona. She worked as a Physical Therapy Technician and was encouraged by the therapists to pursue schooling for Physical Therapy Assistant. She took this advice and attended Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas receiving an Associate of Science Degree in Physical Therapy, she passed State Board Exams for Kansas, Texas and Wyoming. Glenda returned to Wyoming working as a PTA for Campbell County Memorial Hospital in several departments: In patient rehabilitation, work hardening, and with cancer patients. It was during this time that Glenda was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery and was treated with chemo and radiation, after which she returned to work. Her skills were increased more working with cancer patients. On November 7, 1997 Glenda married Pat Kerwin in Newcastle, they resided in Gillette. Later they moved back to Newcastle. She had two stepdaughters from that marriage, Janine Dooley, and Leigh Kerwin. Pat and Glenda divorced in July 2007. Glenda worked for North Platte Physical Therapy, owned her own cleaning business, and then opened her own massage therapy business, which was growing when she was diagnosed with breast cancer again, as well as ovarian cancer in 2009. Treatment for this, and additional surgery in 2010 reduced her endurance. The ovarian cancer returned in 2014 with more surgery and chemo. She continued to fight, and earned a year of increased health, filling several items on her "bucket list" to include: *Girls week in Breckenridge, Colorado. *Christmas with Scott in Denver, Colorado. *Trip to the West Coast with Elizabeth Goodart, covering several items, but staying in a tree house motel was the signature highlight. She was also reacquainted with a high school friend, and toured Alaska. This included seeing Denali when it was clear, taking a 12 hour glass top train ride, visiting an all ice bar and motel, and much more. Glenda enjoyed children and having fun things for them to do. Baking ebelskivers (Danish pancakes) blowing bubbles in the yard, swimming at Evan's Plunge in Hot Springs, SD, cave tours in the Black Hills, and Mt Rushmore. Also going through Dinosaur Park/museum in Dinosaur, Colorado, were a few of the adventures. She also had several children she considered as her own grandchildren and great grandchildren that also referred to her as grandma. Her Christmas cookies were a favorite for all. Glenda spent her last days in Rapid City Regional Hospital and at Hospice House in Rapid City, SD where the doctors and staff made her comfortable, and provided excellent care for her and the family. She passed away peacefully in their care on October 15, 2015. Preceding her in death: Parents: Fred and Martha Slagle; Aunts: Betty Baldwin, Kathy Watson, Thelma Martins; Uncles: Evertt Slagle, Oscar Watson, Don Baldwin, H.Lee Martins and Carl (Jr) Slagle; Grandparents: Ann Masters and Howard Masters, and Carl and Mary Slagle. Survivors: Sons: Scott Willadson, Denver, CO, Ron (Mamie Krank) Willadson, Newcastle, WY. Grandchildren: Courtney Smith, Raleigh NC, Tylin Ellerton (Derek Eixenberger) Gillette, WY, Jake Willadson, Chase City, VA, Great Grandson: Daven Eixenberger, and Step Great Grandson: Dyson Eixenberger, Gillette, WY. Aunt: Nadine Slagle, Newcastle, WY. Sister: Vicki (Ray) Legerski, Casper, WY, Brother: Fred (Carla) Slagle, Karnes City, TX. Nephews: Cody Legerski, Casper, WY, Dustin (Jena) Slagle, Parker, CO, Wayne Legerski, Casper, WY. Nieces: Mandy Brannan, Rangely, CO, Leslie (Nic) George, Sheridan, WY, Torie Slagle, Rangely, CO, Tessa Slagle, Grand Junction, CO. The family would like to extend a "Special Thank You" to Rod Cheek, Rita Conklin, and Elizabeth Goodart; The Grace Lutheran Church pastors and members, and many other friends and family that assisted Glenda through the years.
