Obituary For Harold Amon Voss
Harold Amon Voss, 97, Rapid City, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Golden Livingcenter Prairie Hills. He was born July 16, 1918 to Roy Edger and Mary Lucinda (Wescott) Voss in Faulkton. He attended school through the 8th grade and worked at various jobs until joining the US Army, May 16, 1942 and was honorably discharged December 16, 1945 serving in WWII. He married Irene Nicholson on December 8, 1940 and they were married for 75 years. Harold worked at the SD Cement Plant for 33 years. He started on the bull gang and was Shift Forman when he retired in 1980. He and mom traveled to numerous places for 12 years. He was active in ReAct; Minneluzahan Senior Center and was a member of the Black Hawk Community Church. He is survived by his wife Irene; five daughters, Mary Root; Betty Alexander, both of Rapid City; Bev (Jay) Menard, Apache Junction, AZ; Lila (Dick) Hillmer, Agar and Cindy Dressell, Troup, TX; four sons, Corky (Connie), Lewiston, MT; Darrel (Carla Sandifer), Ron (Cindy), all of Rapid City and Mark (Anna), Box Elder; 27 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin Voss; one son, Ray Voss; daughter-in-law Jackie Voss and one grandson.
