Obituary For Harold E. McConkey, Sr.

Harold E McConkey, Sr., 78, Rapid City passed away Friday Aug. 29th at Rapid City Regional Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on March 27, 1930 in Grandview, IL, to Emery and Vivian (Grismer) McConkey. He was raised in Paris, IL. He met and married the Love of his Life, Ann Davis on May 25, 1948. This year they celebrated 60 years of a wonderful marriage. To this union they had 4 children. Harold spent the last 45 years in Rapid City. He worked for the City of Rapid City. After 25 years, he retired as supervisor of the water department. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends; he loved tending to his yard and flowers and he loved to travel and play bingo. He is survived by his loving wife Ann; children, Vivian (Ron) Reub, Steve McConkey, Harold (Becky) McConkey, Jr., Janet (Steve) Free all of Rapid City; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Kenny McConkey, Redmon, IL an 2 sisters, Wanda Goodwin and Kathleen Wilson both of Paris, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Harold will be deeply missed by family and friends.
