Obituary For Hazel Anna Kellogg

Hazel Anna Kellogg, 97, Rapid City, died Wednesday March 26, 2014 at home. She was born February 26, 1917 in Morristown, SD to Aaron Bradford and Anna (Hardy) Durfee. She attended elementary and secondary school in Reeder, ND and graduated from Reeder High School in 1935. She attended the University of North Dakota graduating with a B.S. in Education. In 1939 she moved to Rapid City where she was a teacher at Central Junior and Senior High School until 1969 and from 1969 to 1980 she taught at Stevens High School. On December 25, 1940 Hazel married George Elmore Kellogg and they had 2 children.Hazel was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma; PEO; National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; SDEA; NEA and RCEA. Hazel is survived by her children, Andra K (Karl) Blauffus, Albuquerque, NM and Charles ‘Chuck’ (Sherrey) Kellogg, Sioux Falls and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, George, Dec 5, 1985 and her brother Charles Russell Durfee, June, 1944.
