Obituary For Hazel D. Richardson

Hazel Darlene Petersen Pryor Richardson, 83, Rapid City died Thursday July 16, 2009 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born May 6, 1926 in Rapid City, to Orwell and Alice (Deuter) Petersen. Hazel spent her early childhood at Farmingdale. At the age of 13 she moved with her parents to Rockerville and later to Keystone shere her father was a driller on Mt. Rushmore. At the age of 16 the family moved to Rapid City where she has resided since. Hazel graduated from Rapid City High School and National College of Business. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1976. Hazel is a member of South Canyon Baptist Church; Blue Bell Council of Telephone Pioneers of America and a past President of BBC Telephone Council-The Life Member Club; The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a past Commander and also a member to the TREA Auxiliary. In 1944 she married Everett A. Pennington. In 1972 she married Robert B Pryor and on May 9, 1986 she married James S. Richardson. Hazel is survived by her son Dwight and wife Paula Pennington, Rapid City; 2 grandchildren, Tonya Big and Ross Pennington, both of Belle Fourche; her brother Dale and wife Ann Petersen, Houston, TX and her cousin Wanda and husband Max Harrell, St Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Pryor; her husband James Richardson, May 22, 2005; her parents and an infant sister.
