Obituary For Hazel J. Clow

Hazel J. Clow, 92, Rapid City, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Fountain Springs Health Care Center.She was born December 25, 1920 in Wessington Springs to Lew and Nellie (Peck) Withee. She moved to Rapid City in 1934 graduating from Rapid City High School in 1940.Hazel married Ray Clow on April 2, 1941 in Rapid City. They moved to Long Beach, CA in 1942 where Ray worked for Boeing Aircraft during WW II. They returned to Rapid City in 1945 and had lived in the same house in Rapid City since they married. They joined the Free Methodist Church in 1945 where Hazel was very active and held several positions in the church.Hazel was an accomplished seamstress, gardener and caregiver to many. She especially loved the Lord and her family.She was known for her independence, zest for life and her laughter.She is survived by 2 daughters, Fran (Bob) Franke, Rapid City, Barb (Rich) Scandrette, Fairfield, CA; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Don (Betty) Withee, 2 sisters, Hope (Don) Scandrett, Vonnie (Ramon) Youngs, all of Rapid City and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, on August 19, 1997, a grandson, Faith Scandrette, a great grandson, Hunter Franke, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
