Obituary For Hazel Minnie Swanson
Hazel Minnie Swanson, 84, Rapid City was called home to the Lord Thursday Nov. 10, 2011 from Clarkson Mt. View Guest Home. She was born Aug. 22, 1927 to Willard and Minnie (Bowe) Yale in Pierre. She was raised in the Pierre area and graduated from Pierre High School. Hazel married Marvin W. Krell in Pierre following WWII. They lived on the Krell farm for 10 years. Marvin and Hazel moved to Wessington shortly after Marvin started selling insurance. Hazel moved to Huron following Marvin’s death. Hazel enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting, flower gardening, quilting, cooking and was active in the Lutheran Church in Huron. Hazel is survived by her children, Willard and his wife Deanna Krell, Highmore; Edith ‘Judy’ McDuffey, Yakama, WA; Kathie and her husband Leslie McDonald, Benbrook, TX; Leanna and her husband Fred Bauman, Rapid City and Jeanne and her husband Charlie Oakes, Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband Marvin W. Krell; second husband Carl O. West; third husband John B. Swanson; her parents; 1 granddaughter, Amy Marie and 4 sisters, Doris Clifton; Dakota-Bell Loers, Betty Baker and Adrin Hart.
