Obituary For Hilda L. Denke

Hilda L. Denke, 87, Rapid City died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Fountain Springs Healthcare. She was born at Prince Albert, Sask, Canada to John and Daisy (Tomalin) Lowe on June 3, 1920. She attended school in Prince Albert, and then graduated as an RN from East General Hospital in Toronto in 1941. She worked many places throughout the world during her career. She met her future husband, who was serving in the US Navy in Bermuda in 1943. They were married in Ashland, KY on May 17, 1945. During the years as a military wife, Hilda worked at many hospitals. After her husbands discharge, she worked at Fort Meade for ten years. They made many memorable trips in their RV all over Mexico, Canada and the United States. Hilda loved to play bingo, read and made many afghans.Survivors include one brother, Howard and wife Esther Lowe, Powell River, British Columbia, Canada; two brothers-in-law, Julius and wife Ruth Denke, Rapid City; Erhart and wife Alice Denke, Sturgis; three sisters-in-law, Marie Denke, Violet Denke, and Margaret Denke, all of Rapid City and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold Denke, Oct. 29, 2007; her parents John and Daisy Lowe; three brother and brothers-in-law, Helmuth, Adolph, Eugene Denke, Thurston Crose and sister-in-law Clara Crose.
