Obituary For Irene Vera Voss

Irene Vera Voss, 93, Rapid City, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Golden Livingcenter Prairie Hills. She was born May 9, 1922 to Vincent Rinaldo and Gladys Ethel (Stanton) Nicholson in Holabird, SD. She graduated high school in Blunt, SD. She married Harold Amon Voss on December 8, 1940 and they were married for 75 years. Irene worked at Woolworth’s Department Store for over 20 years and she and dad cared for foster children for four years. They traveled to numerous places for 12 years. She was active in ReAct; Minneluzahan Senior Center and was a member of the Black Hawk Community Church. She is survived by five daughters, Mary Root; Betty Alexander, both of Rapid City; Bev (Jay) Menard, Apache Junction, AZ; Lila (Dick) Hillmer, Agar and Cindy Dressell, Troup, TX; four sons, Corky (Connie), Lewiston, MT; Darrel (Carla Sandifer), Ron (Cindy), all of Rapid City and Mark (Anna), Box Elder; 27 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren one brother, Alvin, Minnesota and one sister, Ruth, Washington. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold; three brothers, Lloyd, Elden and Don; two sisters, Lorraine and Michey; her son Ray Voss; daughter-in-law, Jackie Voss and one grandson.
