James Craig Layng
May 7, 1958 – August 30, 2025
James Craig Layng, 67, of Rapid City, SD, died on August 30, 2025. He was born in Helena, MT on May 7, 1958, to Gene and Betty (Berry) Layng.
He was a Chef, Builder and Manager. He loved to cook, ride his motorcycle, and go fishing. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by three children –Terry, Lee, and Jamie. Three siblings Ed, Randy and Kelly. Five nieces, Kendra, Kara, Brittany, Kassi, and Amanda. Three nephews, Cole, Justin, Adam, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy, his parents, Gene Layng and Betty Berry, and his son Dalton.
