Obituary For James R McCoy

James R. McCoy, 83, Rapid City, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Ft. Meade Medical Center.He was born May 9, 1932 in New Underwood, SD to Floyd Curtis and Ruth Mable (Godfrey) McCoy. He attended school in New Underwood where he graduated from high school. James entered the US Army on January 28, 1953 and was honorably discharged December 16, 1954. Upon his discharge, James attended West Texas State, Canyon, TX.He married Carole Bowman on September 9, 1959 in Rapid City. They lived in numerous places settling to Rapid City in 1971. James retired from Knecht Lumber Company.He is survived by his wife, Carole, Rapid City; 2 sons, Ed (Maria) McCoy, CA, Tom McCoy, WA, a daughter, Wanda Thomas, Rapid City; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.James was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Nine.The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Ft. Meade for the compassionate care that was provided.A memorial has been established.
