Obituary For Jasper M. Enger

Jasper M. Enger, 91, Rapid City died Sunday Jan. 18, 2009 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born July 22, 1911 in Gladstone, ND to John and Elsie (Nesrud) Enger. Jasper graduated from Dickinson Normal High School and attended Dickinson State Teachers College for 2 years. In 1935 he moved to Rapid City. He worked on airplanes at the SD Air Base in the 40’s. During WWII, Jasper worked for General Electric in Chicago and for Foley Company in Minneapolis. He later moved back to Dickinson where he owned and operated the Dickinson Star Motel in 1955 and 1956. During the latter part of 1956 Jasper moved to California and worked for Beach Manufacturing until 1959. In 1959 he worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1977. He then returned to Rapid City so he could care for his widowed sisters. Jasper is survived by 2 nephews, Dean and wife Celeste Zander, Rapid City; John and wife Joan Enger, Powell, WY; 4 nieces, Betty Lou and husband Jim McCoy, Cypress, CA; Karen and husband Mel Soderberg, Lake Havasu City, AZ; Mary Ellen and husband Bob Ambrose, Houston, TX and Linda and husband Dennis Johnson, Sturgis. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Sigard and Joseph Enger and 5 sisters, Palma Enger; Ella Christensen; Pauline Post; Olga Hill, and Hazel Zander.
