Obituary For Jay Edward Crawford

“Never throughout history has a man who lived a life of ease left a name worth remembering” – Theodore Roosevelt

Jay Edward Crawford, 72, passed away on July 17, 2025 in Rapid City, SD. He was born to Edith (Land) and JE Crawford in Boonville, MO, on February 12th, 1953.

Jay lived in numerous places throughout his lifetime (i.e. Missouri, Nevada, and South Dakota). We are sure tales of his ventures still circulate around but his home was never a physical place. Home was always his family. He was a fierce protector for the people he loved.

Complicated but devoted, he taught his family life lessons of perseverance, loyalty, respect, and love.

In his older years of life, Jay enjoyed a softer role as a grandfather. A true family man, his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Jay is preceded in death by his mother (Edith), father (JE), brothers (Don and Jimmy), sisters (Phyllis and Carol).

Left to honor his memory: Teresa Crawford (his person), and daughters, Rachael (Troy) Fegueroa, Justine (Adam) Shaneyfelt, Megan (Jake) Crawford, Barbara Crawford, and Kristina Crawford.

Beloved grandchildren-Brenna Crawford, Vanessa Fegueroa, Avery Shaneyfelt, Benjamin Shaneyfelt, Carly Shaneyfelt, Connor McGuire, and Sloan McGuire.

Siblings- sisters: Joyce and Debbie, brothers: Terry and Denny.
