Obituary For Jerry Michael Gyles
Jerry Michael Gyles, 76, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away on May 8, 2026, in Rapid City.
Jerry grew up in Southern California and attended school in Riverside, California. Over the course of his life, he built a career in the telecommunications industry, owning telephone inter-connectors before the company later merged with Golden West, where he continued working for 35 years until his retirement. He also proudly volunteered with the Rapid Valley Fire Department and was a licensed private pilot.
Jerry enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and golfing, and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet dedication, and the relationships he built throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Robyn, and his children, Ben Stymiest, James Gyles, and Anna Scheurers. Jerry shared a particularly close bond with his son, Ben, whose steadfast support, care, and presence meant a great deal to him.
Cremation has been accorded by Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. A private celebration of life is planned for the fall.
Memorial donations may be made to the Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
