Jessie Backes, 92, Rapid City, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at her home.Jessie was born January 31, 1929 in Stickney to Dewey and Pauline DeBoer where she lived in her younger years.She married Lawrence Leroy Backes on May 28, 1955 in Sturgis. They lived in Rapid City and in the same house for the past 60 years.Jessie touched numerous children’s lives as a cherished babysitter. She enjoyed Deadwood trips and spending time with many good friends. She was a kind, caring and forgiving person who loved spending time with family. She especially enjoyed her great granddaughter, Cerissa.Jessie is survived by her husband, Lawrence 2 sons, Terry Backes, Greg Mathey all of Rapid City; 2 daughters, Jill Cordes, Rapid City, Linda Fischer, Powel, WY; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and one on the way.She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Hank, Dewey, Ray, Ed, Donny, sister, Emma, a granddaughter, Tami Breck and sons-in-law, Chuck Cordes and Whitney Carr.
