Joan Fern Swanson, 78, Rapid City, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 at home following a 4 year battle with cancer. Joan was born Sept. 28, 1936 in McCone City, MT to Henry A. and Mabel M. (Santon) Bey. She grew up and attended school in Rapid City. Joan married Kenneth Swanson on April 23, 1954. Joan enjoyed doing many different crafts, gardening, loved football as an avid Green Bay Packers' fan and she recently enjoyed computers. Joan especially loved family and spent as much time with them as possible. Joan is survived by her husband Kenneth, Rapid City; three daughters, Cathy (Dave) Adams, Aurora, CO; Connie Olson, Rapid City; Laurie (Asher) White, Box Elder; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, son-in-law, Joe Miller, Sioux Falls and her sister, Marilyn Ferber, Rapid City. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Vicky Miller and two brothers, Robert and Raymond Bey.
