Obituary For Joanne E. Mayer

Joanne E. Mayer, 70, Rapid City, died, Friday, March 17, 2006, at her home in Rapid City. She was born, December 31, 1935, in Plattsburgh, New York, to Joseph and Melina (Brean) Turner. She graduated from Plattsburg High School and on April 15, 1962 she married Christ Mayer in Plattsburg. Joanne belonged to the D.A.V. Auxiliary was a Girl Scout Leader, played in a softball league, participated in the annual cancer walk, and enjoyed camping, hiking, wedding cake decorating, sewing, crocheting, cooking, hunting and fishing. She worked for the Civil Service in food service for 18 years retiring in 1999. Joanne is serviced by; her husband Christ Mayer, Rapid City, one son Chris Allan Mayer, Cheyenne, Wyo, Ramona Lee Mayer, Okalahoma City, Okla, three grandchildren, seven sisters, Jane Agnew, Morrisonville, NY, Susan Vaughn, NJ, Nancy Ginett, Plattsburg, NY, Beatrice Holt, NY, Lorraine Ash, Ticonderoga, NY, Carol Higgens, White Plains, NY, and Terri Brean, Ticonderoga, NY, and two brothers, Donald Turner, Moores, NY, and Adrian Turner, Ticonderoga, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Duane Turner, and Brother Greg Turner. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Restored Life Outreach, PO Box 5999, Rapid City, SD 57709.
