Obituary For John G Delgado

John G. Delgado was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and passed away on May 24th, 2025.

John was born on May 14th, 1934, in N. Easton Massachusetts to John G. and Amelia M. Delgado. He graduated from Oliver Ames High School in 1954 when he then joined the Navy. John was honorably discharged from the Navy due to his struggles with polio.

On April 23rd, 1960, he married Germaine “Gerry” Ventura in Brockton Massachusetts, and they had three wonderful children. John and Gerry moved to South Dakota to be closer to their daughter Deborah and their grandchildren. While in South Dakota, John got a job at Target where he was loved by customers for almost 15 years.

John is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Ed) M. Mayes, son, John F. Delgado, and grandchildren, John R. Delgado, David G. Karsky, Alex Delgado, Alyssa A. Delgado, and Amelia M. Karsky, sister, Mary A. Delgado and brother, Edmund Delgado. He is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Amelia Delgado, son, Richard E. Delgado and wife, Germaine Delgado.

A proud Portuguese, John loved his roots and where his family came from. You could always find him sporting a Portuguese flag of some sort, whether on his car or a t-shirt. He also was a fan of all the Boston sports teams and followed each one, he loved anything that had their logos and could be found in his Patriots coat most of the year. If you needed something, he made it, whether it be a clock of your favorite sports team or a contraption to make it easier to sleep at night, he did it all.

Above all, John was an artist. He had a love and a raw talent for all things art, whether it was one of his clocks he made, over 400 of them, or a spaceship out of an old refrigerator box for his grandchildren, or even just a painting of something he found beautiful. He continued this love of art right up until the few days before he passed.

The family is left to mourn the loss of an incredible father and grandfather. He is with his loving wife, painting the skies with a whistle or a hum.
