Obituary For Josephine Ann Wells
Josephine "Josie" A. Wells
Josephine "Josie" A. Wells, 69, passed away peacefully in Rapid City, South Dakota, on May 29, 2026, at 2:00 a.m. MT, with her husband and daughter Carol by her side.
Born in Beeville, Texas, Josie married the love of her life, Jonathon M. Wells, and proudly embraced the life of a military wife. Together, they traveled and made homes in many places throughout the years before ultimately settling in South Dakota, where she spent most of her life and built lasting friendships and cherished memories.
Josie was many things throughout her life—a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and cherished companion. She was known for her stubborn determination, passionate spirit, and her unique ability to find joy in the little things. An unbiased collector of anything that made her smile, Josie surrounded herself with treasures that reflected her curiosity, humor, and love of life.
Her warmth and authenticity drew people to her. Whether someone had known her for decades or had only just met her, Josie had a way of making a lasting impression. She was loved by many and will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering opinions, infectious laughter, and the countless memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.
Josie's memory will be treasured by her devoted husband, soulmate, life partner, and best friend, Jonathon M. Wells; her sisters, Clara, Mary Lou, and Elsa; her daughters, Encela Pardo and Carol Wells; her grandchildren, EvaAnn, Timothy, Paige, and Dylan; her great-grandson, Henry; and her four beloved pets, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
In accordance with her wishes, no funeral service will be held. Those who wish to honor Josie's memory are invited to make a donation to their local animal shelter, children's hospital, or Hospice House in her name.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love, strength, and joy she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
