Obituary For Josie Carlotta Reel
Josie Bratsveen Hanson Reel, 94, Rapid City, died Monday Jan. 8, 2007 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Josie was born in Marshall County, SD on Aug. 14, 1912 to Louritz K. and Elida (Brubbaken) Bratsveen. She attended schools in Veblen and Britton, SD. Josie married Henry J. Hanson on June 25, 1931. They lived in Lake City, SD, moving to Rapid Valley in 1934, then to the Spring Creek area near Hermosa in 1936. Henry preceded her in death, July 9, 1965. She married Frank Reel on Nov. 12, 1969 and they lived in the Rapid Valley area. Josie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion and the Eight & Forty Club. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Frank Reel, Rapid City; daughter, LaVonne (Loyal) Babb, Lincoln, MT; step-daughter, Ardeen (Phil) Nalls, Rapid City; step-son, Leon Reel, Longmont, CO; 3 granddaughters, Robin L’Esperance, Lisa Reel, Tammie Reel all of Denver, CO; 2 grandsons, Randy and Jeff Haskell both of Great Falls, MT; numerous great grandchildren and one brother Edwin Bratsveen, Britton, SD. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Hanson; 4 sisters, Gladys, Hazel, Lillian, Lucy and 1 brother Alvin.
