Obituary For June Ann Hamilton

June Ann Miller, born October 13, 1946, was the eldest daughter of Jack Ivan (Boschka) Miller (born in Ivanbrieg, Croatia) and Genevieve Loraine (Iverson) (born in Iowa to Norwegian parents). June was born in Rockford, Illinois where the family lived on a farm near her beloved Chana, Illinois. When June was in fifth grade, the family moved through different farms located in Esmond, Illinois and Livingston, Wisconsin, before finally settling in Barneveld, Wisconsin where she graduated from Barneveld High School in 1964. During her adolescence, she loved helping her father on the farm by baling hay among several other farming chores.

In 1964, after high school, she met and married David Hamilton. Their first daughter Jody was born in Madison, Wisconsin. The family eventually relocated to Rapid City, SD in 1970 where their two other children were born: Schuyler and Holly.

After divorcing in 1980, June attended Western Dakota Tech, graduating in 1982. She then began her employment journey at SD Rehabilitation services and TCI Cable with Jim Oswad. Later she moved to American Family Insurance Claims Office, before finally finding her place at Rosenbaum Signs with the Ferrar family from which she eventually retired in 2012.

During these years, June loved being active, participating in RC City/league volleyball and two bowing leagues. Along with being physically active, she enjoyed doing genealogy research, reading, sewing, cross stitching, gardening and holding many other interests.

Everyone who knew June, knew her being funny, sweet, caring, thoughtful, and protective. She was also extremely thoughtful and organized. In a final act of thoughtfulness, and ever prepared as she was known to be, June took time to write out most of her own obituary, reflecting the care and intention with which she lived her life.

Thank you to her homecare taker Cristal Varnadoe for caring for June, allowing her to stay comfortably, in her home through many medical issues: two heart attacks with stents; 3 back compression fractures; gallbladder surgery; dental surgery; and finally, cancer which led to a hysterectomy and radiation. Through her battle with health, June never gave up and overcame it all with grace. A special thanks to her lifelong friend Louis who was a big support to June, offering lasting and genuine friendship. Lastly, a big thank you to her children and grandchildren who always stepped in to help where needed. Because of their love and support, June peacefully transition to heaven to meet her Heavenly Father, blessed by the comforting presence of her beloved granddaughter Maliyah by her side.

Preceding her in death are her parents and eldest daughter Jody. She is survived by her children Schuyler and Holly Hamilton; grandchildren Lindsay Mader, Maliyah Hamilton, Charlotte Hankins, Gaige Hamilton; great-grandchildren Carter and Miles Ward; her sisters Teresa Dintelman (Chuck) and Mary Miller; nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
