Obituary For Kathaleen Virginia (Metz) Mohler

Kathaleen was born February 6, 1924 at Custer, S.D. to Charles and Lottie (Collins) Metz. At age three she moved with her parents to a farm near Fairburn, S.D.. She attended grade school at rural school, Fairwiew and high school at Fairburn.She married Ira Mohler of Buffalo Gap, S. D. on June 29, 1942 at Chadron, Nebraska. She lived in Buffalo Gap, S. D. until her husband entered the military. At that time she moved to Harney, S. D. in December 1943. When Ira was discharged from the military they moved to Keystone, S. D.It was there where Kathaleen and Ira raised their family. She was a member of the Keystone Extension Club for twenty-five years. When her girls were in school she held offices in the P.T.A. She was a charter member of the Keystone Area Historical Society. She baby sat in her home for years and took in alterations. She worked for several motels during the summers. Kathaleen and Ira square danced for years and were members of several clubs. She moved to Rapid City, South Dakota after the death of her husband in 1991.Survivors include: Three daughters: Virginia Wilcox and her husband Bernard of Garland, Texas; Bonita Ley of Rapid City; and Melodye Bush of Denver, Colorado. Two granddaughters: Carrie Horton and husband Bill of Mineola, Texas and Cathie Shaw and her husband Mark of Garland, Texas. Two great granddaughters: Courtney and Rebecca Shaw of Garland, Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira in 1991; her parents and two brothers Edward and Delbert Metz and one niece Elizabeth Metz.
