Obituary For Keith M. Reed, Sr.
Keith M. Reed Sr died Saturday April 22, 2006 at his home in Rapid City surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was born in Faulkton, South Dakota on March 12, 1927 to Harry and Margaret (Heber) Reed. He was in active duty in the Army from 1945 to 1947. He met and married O. Rose Steele on June 14, 1948 at Redfield, South Dakota. In his early career he owned and operated a paint and body shop in Redfield South Dakota. During his lifetime he worked in the Lead Mine, drove truck for Farrier Red Owl, Midwest Coast Trucking, Nash Finch and finally Metz Bakery. His passion after retirement was tinkering in his garage repairing family cars. He didn’t think twice about going to Central High parking lot and checking his grandchildren’s cars for odometer readings and oil levels. If the oil was low, or there were too many miles driven, or the car was dirty, a note was left on the windshield to see him after school. He was social at the Hardees and Walmart coffee shops on a daily basis. Recently when he was not able to be active, he enjoyed watching the antics of his cat and the neighborhood squirrels and birds.He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother Ronald Reed, his sister Shirley Reed Beckler, his twin brother Kenneth Reed and his grand-daughter Shelley Heinbaugh. He is survived by his loving wife Rose, a brother Donald Reed of Brentford SD, and two dear sister-in-laws, Phyllis Reed, and Betty Reed both of Aberdeen SD. His children: son Keith Jr & Linda and children: Jason Odenbach, Raelene & Kenny Ward, Heather Reed, Misty Reed and Bill Reed. Daughter Roxanne Reed & Art and children: Ben Heinbaugh, Rocky & Vicki Reed, daughter Margaret Patterson & Ron and children: Jason Flesner, Jarred & Sheila Flesner, Joy & Ron Cooper, Daughter Shirley Laino & Bruce of Grand Junction CO. and children: Olivia Laino, Jackie Laino and Andrew Laino Daughter Rebecca Reed & Jereme and children: Dion Brown Jr, Amber Brown, Chance Brown and Loren Curnutte. Daughter Ruth Reed and her special friend Tracy. He also was blessed with 10 great grandchildren: Alecia, Amelia, and Kenny Jr, Tabitha, James, Tianna, Kayne, Tierra, Hailey and Lindsey.A special thanks to his neighbors and friends including Dee, George, Cristina & Sons, and Terry.
