Obituary For Kenneth J Edmondson

Kenneth J Edmondson, 74, of Rapid City, SD passed away on May 15th, 2024 in Rapid City, SD

Ken was born in Waterbury Connecticut to Joseph Linus and Charlene Ruth Edmondson on October 21, 1949. He graduated from Seymour High School in Seymour, CT in 1968. He married Carol Rae Martin on August 3, 1974 in Beacon Falls, CT. He served in the US Air Force for a total of 24 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Air Force Accommodation Medal, the Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation, The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, The Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

After his tour of duty in Vietnam he was stationed at Malmstrom AFB, MT, Grand Forks AFB, ND and Ellsworth AFB, SD. Ken and Carol fell in love with the Black Hills and bought a home in Rapid City in the 90s and made South Dakota home.

He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Financial Management in May of 2002 and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Information Technology in March 2003.

Ken is survived by his daughter Heather Marie Erickson of Commerce City, CO, his mother Charlene Ruth Edmondson, and his siters Joyce Marie Gratton and Maureen Jean Allen. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Carol and his father, Joseph.

His daughter would like to extend her sincere thanks to the staff at Monument Health who took great care of him and her in his final weeks.

    I am so sorry to learn about your father's passing and wish I would have known in time to attend the service. I knew your dad when he was a college student at National American University. We had many great conversations and I will treasure the memory of them. It was such a nice person!
