Obituary For Kenneth M. 'Otis' Taylor
Kenneth Milton ‘Otis’ Taylor, 85, Rapid City, died Friday August 14, 2009 at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center. He was born to Delbert and Ethel (Marsden) Taylor on January 8, 1924 in Alexandria, SD. He grew up in Emery, SD and attended country school. March 28, 1944, Kenneth entered the US Army. He was honorably discharged October 26, 1945. In 1948, he attended West Point for two years and was called back into the Army in 1950. After leaving the US Army, he joined the SD National Guard 147th Field Artillery Unit, Howard, SD and the 109th Engineers and the 211th Engineers out of Rapid City. After his time in the Army and National Guard, he farmed at Howard. Kenneth married Olga Adolfsen in Oldham, SD in December 1952. In 1956, Kenneth moved from Howard to Rapid City where he lived until his death. In 1970 he married Judy Williams. He worked for the Rapid City Police Dept. and the Street Dept. In 1966, he worked at Ellsworth AFB Civil Service retiring in 1985. In 1961 Kenneth played a role in the movie ‘How the West Was Won’ and ‘Lakota Woman’ in 1993 and he attended acting school in 1976. Kenneth is survived by two sons, James A. Taylor, Rapid City; Richard J. Taylor and fiancé Heather Shortbull, Rapid City; his daughter, Mary J. and husband Rick Cobb, Worthington, MN; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
