Obituary For Kenneth 'Toy' Baker

Kenneth (Toy) Baker passed away June 10, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Toy was born February 19, 1919 in Bancroft, SD to Herbert and Edith Baker. He was the seventh of 12 children. He got the nickname Toy from his mother, who carried him around most of the time when he was little, so she called him her little "toy". He married Betty Olive Yale on June 29, 1940. They had six children. Betty and Toy were married for 70 years until Betty passed away in February 2011.Grandpa Toy will be remembered by his children and grandchildren for his storytelling and jokes. He loved to watch old reruns of Bonanza and Gunsmoke and always had his candy dish close by to hand out candy to his grandkids.Toy is survived by one sister, Ruth (Susie) Berry of Battleground, WA; his daughter and son in law Linda and Jason Davis of Rapid City; his son Jim Baker of Spearman, TX; his son Dick Baker of Blunt, SD; his daughter Bonnie Redden of Rapid City; his daughter Julie Jacobsen of Gillette WY; 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.Toy was preceeded in death by his wife Betty, his son Kenny Baker, his parents, his seven brothers, three of his sisters, his son in law Dick Jacobsen, his daughter in law Joan Baker and his daughter in law Beth Baker.
