Obituary For Kent Franklin Snow

Kent Franklin Snow, 49, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2014, with family by his side, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria Snow for almost 27 years and the devoted father of Dominic and Karissa Snow. Kent was born in Boulder, Colorado on September 29, 1964 to Gordon Snow and Elizabeth Webb Sanborn Snow. He spent his early years in Boulder and Nederland, Colorado, graduating from Nederland High School in 1982. He joined the United States Air Force in 1985 and was assigned to the Supply Squadron where he met his wife Maria, who also served. They got married in 1987 and had two children. During Maria’s year-long military assignment in Cyprus, Kent lovingly opted to be a stay-at-home father to their infant daughter and toddler son. He began employment at the United States Postal Service in 1996 as a letter carrier. He was loved by all because of his kindness, gentle nature, and quick humor. Kent was an active member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and a local remote-control flying club. His interests included painting, sketching, fly-fishing, and landscaping. Kent left his creative touch all around him as evidenced by the Zen garden and pond with waterfall at his home. He also loved creating YouTube video montages, including many of his own flying adventures. He was endeared by family, friends, and coworkers. Kent took special interest in the Filipino culture, thereby learning Tagalog and bonding with the local Filipino community. The highlight of any karaoke session was Kent singing his favorite Tagalog songs. Besides his wife and children, Kent is survived by his stepmother Anne Snow, siblings Jim Snow, Kathy Sills, Dave Snow, Fran McReynolds, Laura Snow, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kent went through unthinkable surgeries, treatments, and complications but despite all of them, he kept a gentle spirit and continued to amuse everyone with his puns. Special thanks to all who supported us through this difficult journey.
