Obituary For Kent "Hutch" Hutcheson
Kent Hutcheson known as “Hutch”, age 83, of Pierre, SD, passed away on April 25, 2025 in Rapid City, SD.
Kent was born on September 23, 1941 to Marvin & Marcella Hutcheson in Denison, Iowa. His passion as a fishing and hunting guide turned into a lifelong career with the majority of his adult life being spent on Lake Oahe, Lake Sharpe, Lake Francis Case, and along the Missouri river. Off-season he enjoyed spending time with his family in Texas. Along with guiding, Hutch was an award winning bass and walleye tournament fisherman for over 30 years. His fishing reports for Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe helped guide locals and tourists alike. Hutch was a former sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and a licensed master captain in the United States Coast Guard. An avid poker player, upon retirement in 2024 Hutch enjoyed spending time with his friends and playing cards.
Kent is survived by daughters Brooke Mehaffey and David of Muscatine, IA and Alexis Kee of Des Plaines, IL, his grandsons Mac Mehaffey, Luke Mehaffey, Augustus Freitag, and Ulysses Freitag, and his sister, Joanne Hammack. Kent is preceded in death by his wife, Francie Hutcheson, sisters Gayle Todd and Lorie McChristie, brother Keith Hutcheson, parents Marvin & Marcella Hutcheson, and his beloved yellow labs.
