Obituary For Kim Nadine Garreaux

Kim Nadine Garreaux, age 64, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away peacefully at her home on January 7, 2026.

Kim was born on May 5, 1961, in Pierre, South Dakota, to Jack Middleton and Frances Jean Edge, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in South Dakota and later earned her high school diploma.

Kim shared 23 loving years with her beloved husband, Charles “Chuck” Gilbert Garreaux. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and a deep commitment to serving others.

She was a devoted mother to Jacoby Lynn Butterfield, Zachary Daniel Butterfield, and Rachel Elizabeth Wulf, and a proud grandmother to Haylie Lynn Butterfield and Autumn Rayne Butterfield, who were a constant source of joy in her life. She is also survived by her brothers, Randy Middleton and Brad Middleton, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Kim retired in September of 2023 after many years as a cake decorator at Walmart, a career that reflected her creativity, attention to detail, and love for bringing happiness to others. She had a special talent for decorating and took great joy in making holidays and special occasions meaningful for her family and those around her.

A woman of strong and unwavering faith, Kim loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was never shy about sharing her faith. She had a true servant’s heart and was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. Kim made friends wherever she went and had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcomed and cared for.

She enjoyed watching HGTV, reading the Bible and devotionals, listening to Christian music, baking, and decorating. Her life was a reflection of her faith and her love for family, friends, and community.

A funeral service will be held on January 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) at Behrens Wilson Funeral Home & Crematory in Rapid City, South Dakota. Online live streaming of the service will be available. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1901 Mountain View Road, Rapid City, SD 57702.

The family finds comfort in the words of Nahum 1:7 (KJV):
“The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”

Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made in Kim’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Kim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
