Obituary For LaVaughn Beaird

LaVaughn Beaird, 89, Rapid City died Tuesday Feb. 12, 2008 at Fountain Springs Healthcare Center. She was born Sept. 26, 1918 to Ward and Ellen (Christiansen) White in Rapid City. She was raised on Cuny Table and graduated from Scenic High School in 1936. LaVaughn married Pike Beaird on Nov. 24, 1936 in Rapid City where they made their home. LaVaughn owned a consignment store, Peddlers Two, until retiring in 1992. She enjoyed handiwork including crocheting, ceramics, gardening and cooking and she had numerous collections. LaVaughn is survived by her daughters, Sandra Kelly, and Jane Williams, both of Maui, HI; grandchildren, Marsia Geldert-Murphey, Glen Carbon, IL; Jenna Golden, Rapid City; Robert Geldert, Edwardsville, IL; Sarah McDonough, Redwood City, CA; Sean Tallman, Hollywood, CA; 8 great grandchildren; brother Dwight White, Lincoln, NE; sisters Ina Keester and Patricia Collins both of Rapid City and relatives and friends too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pike, April 16, 1983; daughter Karen Carlton, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
