Obituary For Leonard Sigmund

Leonard Sigmund, 82, Custer and formerly of Mitchell, died Tuesday Dec. 5, 2006 in his home east of Custer. Leonard was born on Dec. 26, 1923 to Herman and Mary (Stampe) Sigmund. He grew up on the family farm 3 ½ miles west of Mt. Vernon. He married Caroline Hohn on Dec. 17, 1945. They lived on a farm 6 miles west of Mt. Vernon. In 1946, they moved to the Sigmund family farm and lived there until their retirement in 1989. He moved to Custer after his wife’s death in 2001 and lived with his daughter and son-in-law. Leonard was a member of the Berean Bible Church in Custer and served his Lord as a deacon there until his death. Leonard is survived by one daughter, Sharon and husband Dick Kretschmer, Custer; one son, Ed and wife Vickie, Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother Ray and wife Frances, Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Irene Hohn, Letcher; Beverly Stemper, San Diego and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one sister.
