Obituary For Leslie LeRoy Sandusky
Leslie LeRoy Sandusky, 54, Summerset, died Friday Oct. 14, 2011. He was born Oct. 29, 1956 in Windecken, Germany to LeRoy William and Adela Irma (Kunz) Sandusky. He graduated from Rapid City High School and received a Bachelors Degree in Medical Administration from Pierce College in Washington. Leslie entered the US Army National Guard in 1974 in Rapid City and then joined the US Army in 1977. He was stationed in Ft. Carson, CO; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and Ft. Reinhart, Alaska; serving during Desert Storm, he retired Dec. 31, 1994 from Ft. Lewis, WA. While in the Army he played softball, winning the Championship. He earned the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Expert Marksmanship Badge, the Army Commendation Medal; Good Conduct Medal and the Desert Storm Campaign Ribbon. Leslie lived in Lakewood, WA before moving to Rapid City on March 11, 2011. He enjoyed teasing people and was very people friendly and he loved going to Alaska on fishing trips. Leslie is survived by his son, Leslie LeRoy Sandusky Jr; Ft Benning, GA; his mother, Adela Sandusky, Lawton, OK; two brothers, Pete (Diana) Sandusky, Summerset, SD and Fred Thomas Kunz, Lawton, OK; three sisters, Danielle (Matthew) Hubbard, Denver, CO; Ronnie Sandusky, Grand Junction, CO and Carmen (Vincent) Thompson, Frankfort, KY; numerous nieces and nephews and his best buddy “T.J.”. He is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy William Sandusky and his nephew Russell E Ward. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. Julie Norwood officiating. Interment will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at Black Hills National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard.
