Obituary For Leslie Stanley Vrbsky

Leslie Vrbsky, 66, passed away peacefully with him family by his side on Monday, October 7, 2013 in Rapid City, SD.Les was born February 15, 1947 in Winner, SD to Stephen and Anna (Petersen) Vrbsky. As a young boy he attended a small country school, he later moved to town to attend high school and worked at Crossroads Grocery and then graduated in 1965. On September 16, 1966, he married Janice Ewing in Winner. They moved to Rapid City to start their life together. To this union, two children were born, Sheila and Kevin. Les loved his family. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and helping with the Sturgis Rally. But the farm boy never left Les, he would return to the farm as much as he could.Les started working for Safeway in their produce department and later began delivering milk door to door. For the next 20 years he delivered milk for Brown Swiss, Gillette and Lakeside Dairies.Les was also a great mechanic and handy man. He would always help his family and friends when something needed fixing. He enjoyed tinkering on projects with Kevin and loved the companionship he felt working with him.Les never met a stranger, he had friends wherever he went and would chat with anyone. He enjoyed having a cup of coffee and a smoke while shooting the breeze. His former milk customers enjoyed having him stop by.He liked all kinds of music but the Czech waltzes and polkas had a special spot in his heart, especially when his dad and brother played for him. He was so proud of their abilities and would brag them up all the time.He was proud of his grandchildren; he liked bragging about all their successes. He was especially proud when Brittany graduated from college and proud to see Ashley and Brandon following in her footsteps towards college. He sees Ashley’s incredible intelligence and thinks Brandon will be an engineer someday.He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janice; daughter Sheila (Adam) Frizzell; Son, Kevin and special friend Tina Schroeder; Grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, and Brandon all of Rapid City. Siblings Robert (Dianne) Vrbsky of Colome, Linda (Rick) Hlavka of Rapid City; Marie Oleson of Las Vegas and mother-in-law, Ella Ewing of Winner and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Stephen Vrbsky; Father-In-Law, Stanley Ewing; and brother in law Dennis Oleson.Our husband, dad and grandpa will be greatly missed. We know others who loved him will miss him, too.
