Obituary For Lillian Rose Plihal

Lillian Rose Plihal, 98, Rapid City, died on Friday June 27, 2014 at Golden Livingcenter Prairie Hills. She has been cremated through Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home and will be taken to Tyndall, SD for burial at the Tyndall Bohemian Cemetery beside her parents and her brother Edward. Lillian Plihal was born to Emma and Joseph Plihal, August 26, 1915 in the rural area of Tyndall. She attended rural Bambas School for eight years and graduated from Tyndall High School in 1934. She attended Southern Teacher’s College in Springfield, SD for two years. She taught rural schools in Bristol, NE and Medved School in Tyndall from 1936-1941. During the war, between 1941-1945, she worked as a civil service clerk in Washington D.C., St Louis, MO and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. After the war she went to Denver, CO and was employed by General Adjustment Bureau from 1946-1955. She was transferred to San Francisco, CA in 1955. She worked for Frank B Hall & Co., San Francisco for 12 years, retiring in 1981. On retirement she moved to Rapid City, making her home here, where her sisters resided. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women’s Association and a member of the ushering team at church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 14, Rapid City and a member of Canyon Lake Senior Center and Minneluzahan Senior Center. She volunteered at Rapid City Library on Tuesdays since 1988. She leaves to mourn, a sister, Ella F Dvoracek; a niece, Jacqueline Dvoracek Davis (Jerry), Grand Forks, ND; along with their two children, Sarah Davis (Cullen Anderson), Moscow, ID and Jeremy Davis (Kristen Smith Davis), New York, NY; a nephew Jerry Healey (Judy), Billings, MT; a nephew Joe Plihal, (Liza), Tyndall and a niece Sally Foley, Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Edward and a sister, Ann J Healey.
