Obituary For Louis George Kennedy

Louis George Kennedy, Hill City, SD, died at home Sunday, January 2, 2011. Louie was born January 16, 1949 in Yankton to Frances and Louis A. Kennedy. He served in Viet Nam with the United States Navy from 1969-1973, and was honorably discharged as a 3rd Class Petty Officer. Louie earned both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science, and Master of Arts in Educational Psychology and Counseling from the University of South Dakota. In 1978 Louie married Pam Kadous. To this union three children were born. In 1991 Louie married Nancy Pottratz. Louie and Nancy lived for 10 years on a farm outside Tabor, SD and raised beautiful gardens. In 2001 they moved to Hill City, SD. At the end of the 2010 school year, Louie retired as the Drug and Alcohol Counselor for the Hill City School District. He recently accepted a full-time position at the Prairie Berry Winery, the job of his dreams. He was a happy man.Louie is survived by his wife Nancy and his children Adrienne (Raymond) Lewis,Vermillion, SD; Carson, Vermillion, SD; Meryll Anne, Sioux Falls, SD; 4 grandchildren—Auden, Kaya, Sienna, and Armani Lewis; his brothers Mark (Twila) Kennedy, Minnetonka, MN; Richard (Cindy) Kennedy, Volin, SD; Mike (Susan) Kennedy, New Castle, CO; Bobby (Michelle) Kennedy, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; his sister Laurie (Dean) Bruning, St. Helena, NE; and his beloved dog Gracie. Louie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim.
