Obituary For Lyle H. Wulf

Lyle H. Wulf, 83, Rapid City, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood. Lyle was born Sept. 2, 1926, to John and Mary (Stover) Wulf in White Lake. He was the youngest of seven children. When his parents passed away, he was raised by his sisters and their families, John and Doris Arens and Joe and Agnes Vlassman. Lyle joined the Navy in 1943 and served until the end of World War II. Upon his return, he married Ada Marie Guindon in September, 1946. They had three children, Linda Carol, Alice Marie, and Richard Glen. Lyle spent the better part of his working life in trucking. He drove for Eddie Krell, Plankinton, Conrad Williams, Belle Fourche, Bill Zigenbein at Black Hills Packing Company, Rapid City, and himself. He eventually worked his way to Black Hills Trucking Company where he worked as the transportation manager, where he retired in 1988. Lyle was an integral member of the Rapid City Boots and Saddle Club, and served as their President for many years. He was a member of the South Dakota Trucking Association’s Safety Council. He was a member of the Minneluzahan Senior Citizens Center. His greatest pleasures came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Watching their activities kept him young at heart. He especially enjoyed winning at checkers. He was always interested in raising livestock and dairy cows. He is survived by one daughter, Alice Meyer and her husband Ed, Rapid City; one son, Rick Wulf and his wife Cindy, Rapid City; one son-in-law, Melvin White, Chadron, Neb.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
