Obituary For Mamie Boltz
Mamie Katherine Boltz, passed away on Dec. 10, 2014, peacefully at her daughter’s, (Becky) and son-in-laws (Rico) residence in northern California. She was 95.She’s survived by her sister, Helen Vandenburg of Deadwood South Dakota, a daughter, son, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and life long friends, Virgil and Evelyn Dittes, Milbank, South Dakota. Mamie was born May 2, 1919, to Matt and Lulu Aiyala in Lawton, N.D. They moved to South Dakota in 1933. Graduated from Kalevala High School in 1937 and found work being a bookkeeper. She met Bernard Boltz 1938, she married him in 1940. They adopted two children, then moved to California in 1957, where they lived for thirty years. During that time she owned and worked in a grocery store and RV business. In 1987 after retiring she moved back to Lead, S.D. She kept busy in her garden planting flowers. She loved to bowl, go on jeep runs and sail to Catalina Island. More than anything she loved to travel around the country in their RV visiting family and friends. When living in Calif., she relaxed on the beach in Mexico, where they had a cabin. Mamie lived life to the fullest, enjoying every moment with her husband of 63 years. She was preceded by her parents, husband, brothers, seven sisters, and life long friend Edna Robinson. Mamie lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Fortuna, Calif., for the last 6 years. After the service family and friends may gather at the VFW in Deadwood.
