Marie Danzer Huckfeldt, 96, Custer and formerly of Fort Pierre, passed away March 11, 2011. Marie was born March 13, 1914, to Michael and Frances (Schnelldorfer) Danzer at their home in rural Fort Pierre. She attended rural school in Stanley County. On Sept. 10, 1937, she married Henry J. Huckfeldt, also of rural Fort Pierre. They owned and operated a cattle ranch along the Missouri River at historic Stoney Point. She moved to Rapid City in April 2003 to live near her daughter, Kathryn Brewer. Marie will be especially remembered for her garden, country fried chicken, homemade wild fruit jelly, fresh baked bread and cinnamon rolls. She served as a 4-H leader and frequently volunteered for projects at the schools and served on the school board where her daughters attended. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Fort Pierre for many years. She is survived by her five daughters, Christina Conant, Slidell, La., Dorothy Neddermeyer, Phoenix, Ariz., Frances Lundin, Lacey, Wash., Kathryn Brewer, Hermosa, and Debra Fiakas, New York, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Leo Danzer, Tucson, Ariz., and Frank Danzer, Tenino, Wash.The family wishes to thank Father Brian Christensen, St. John's Church in Fort Pierre, for support and the funeral service; Father Peter Kovarik and the lay ministers of St. John's Church in Custer, the staff at Morningstar Assisted Living, Rapid City, and Custer Senior Regional Care, Custer, for their excellent care.
