Marilynn Madison went home to be with her Lord on Sunday Feb 17, 2013 while at the Fort Meade VA Hospice Center in Sturgis,Marilynn was born March 3, 1924 to John and Candace (Fuller) Hayes at their ranch near Wasta. She attended all 12 years of school in Wasta, graduating High School in 1942.After graduation she attended the Black Hills School of Business in Rapid City. Knowing there was a great demand for shipyard workers she and her sister went to Vancouver, WA where they spent the next year working in the shipyards. Patriotism and her love of country encouraged her to join the military. She was a Spar in the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed in Galveston, TX, and New Orleans, LA. After her return home she met the love of her life, Stanley Madison, also just home from the war. They married Feb.7th, 1948 making their home at the Madison ranch west of Rapid City. To this union was born three children, Micheal, Mavis, and Monte Madison, all of Rapid City. Marilynn was an active member in the Doty community, serving on the School Board and Election Board. She worked diligently to turn the Historic Ranch house into a beautiful Bed and Breakfast which she and Stanley hosted until his declining health forced them to close. After Stanley's death Marilynn moved to the Westhills Living Center. This past December she was hospitalized at Fort Meade. Marilynn was a friend any one could call on and will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children, Micheal , Mavis and Monte (Rita) Madison, two sisters, Shirley Tennyson, Rapid City and Virginia Poste, Casper, WY and Bud White, Fairburn, SD; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley, two sisters, Florence Baird and Charlene Schell and Robin Madison.
