Obituary For Marjorie L. Buechler

Marjorie L. (Bauer) Buechler, 87, Rapid City, died Wednesday Aug. 31, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1924 in Java. Marjorie was married to Herbert J. Buechler of Bowdle. Together they farmed 6 miles north of Bowdle. Farming was always a difficult challenge, but the couple thrived and raised their family selling milk, grains and beef. She earned and Education degree at Northern State University in Aberdeen and began her teaching career in rural one-room schools near Java. After marriage, she taught elementary school at Bowdle Public School for many years before retiring and moving to Rapid City. She took great pleasure in walking the prairies, researching and preserving the family German heritage, reading, playing card games, gardening, drawing and crocheting. She enjoyed singing and sang with many church and community choirs. We will miss her musical and artistic talents. Survivors include her children, Stanley Buechler, Aberdeen; Jeffrey Buechler, Rapid City; Marjean Irons, Las Cruces, NM; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert J. Buechler.
