Obituary For Marshall Edward 'Ed' Conklin

Marshall Edward “Ed” Conklin, Jr., 75, of Rapid City, SD, passed away August 3, 2014.Ed was born on September 6, 1938 to Marshall and Frances Conklin in Vallejo, CA. After enlisting in the United States Navy in 1955, he married the love of his life and best friend, Edwina, on November 17, 1965. They were married for 49 years.After retiring from the Navy in 1975, he went to work for the California Prison Industry System as the Laundry Superintendent. After his retirement in 1999, he and Edwina moved to Rapid City, a place they had always loved because of the spirit of community.Ed was survived by his wife Edwina and his devoted dog Spike, his brothers Ralph and Jack, his children Daniel and Kimberly, Debra and Blaine, and his grandchildren, Andrew Wilson, Joseph, Anthony and Miranda Conklin.Ed will be fondly remembered for his unique charm and sense of humor. He was beloved by many, and his family extended far beyond blood.
