Obituary For Marvin Leonard Carroll

Marvin L. Carroll, 82, Rapid City, SD passed away on May 2, 2015 in Hospice Care at Fort Meade Veterans Hospital with his family at his side. Marvin was born in Pringle SD on August 27, 1932 to Glenn and Evelyn (Gamber) Carroll.He was a log cutter and served in the National Guard until entering and serving in the Navy during the Korean War. Marvin received an honorable discharge on December 8, 1955. Marvin and Maggie Schmidt married on August 10, 1957. They moved to Kalispell, MT in the early 1960's where he continued log cutting and eventually entered the Ironworkers Union. The family then moved to Rapid City where he worked on the missile silos with Local 454. He continued as an Ironworker until a disabling auto accident in 1976. Marvin had a love for great outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Marvin lived at home with his wife until entering the hospital in April 2015. Marvin is survived by his wife, Magdalena (Maggie) Carroll; children, Michael (Brenda) Carroll of Rapid City; Gloria (Tim) Smith of Hastings, NE; Yvonne (Steve) Uhrich of Kent, WA; Neal (Tanya) Carroll of Rapid City; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren;siblings, Laverne Carroll, Beverly(Benson) Carlson, Arlene(Harold) Flack and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son; father, Glenn Carroll; mother, Evelyn Alspach and three brothers, Bernard, Wayne and Earl Carroll.
