Obituary For Marvin Spitzer

Marvin Spitzer was born on March 7, 1930 at Eureka, SD to David and Katharina (Nehlich) Spitzer. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1950. On November 15, 1951 he entered the US Army and was honorably discharged on May 21, 1952. He worked at various places in the Eureka area. On November 20, 1955 he married Lorraine Dockter at Oakes, ND. They made their home in Rapid City, SD where he did road construction for several years, retiring due to his health. Lorraine died on December 30, 1999 at Rapid City. Marvin’s greatest passion was gardening, giving most of the produce away to family and friends. Marvin was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he will be greatly missed.Grateful for having shared Marvin’s life are his son, Brian (Myra) Spitzer, Rapid City, grandchildren, Casey, Jeremy (Mellissa) and Megan (Manuel) Carter, four great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces.Marvin is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Spitzer, daughter, Tammy Kruse, parents, David and Katharina Spitzer, siblings, John, Jacob, Otto, Edwin Spitzer, Frieda Butala, Herbert Spitzer, Emma Nelson, Ruben “Tom” Spitzer and Jane Minard.
