Obituary For Mary Caesar

Mary Woodward Caesar, 79, Rapid City passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday morning, Aug. 23, 2008. She was born and raised in Bay Village, OH. Having attended Denison University in Granville, OH and received her BA in sSpeech Pathology, she then attended Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL and received her MA in Special Education at USD in Vermillion, SD in 1982. In 1977, Mary and her son, Scott moved to Rapid City. She taught in the Rapid City schools as a Speech Pathologist and Special Education Teacher until her retirement in 1991. After her retirement, she established a local non-profit organization called “MISSION IN TIME”. As the result of years of wanting to accomplish a beneficial group for studying, preserving, and enhancing the local environment, she created the current mission of “Kid Cozy”. Kid Cozy makes sleeping bags which are distributed to children in need of their own bed while in temporary housing at the Cornerstone Mission, WAVI and Ohitaka Indian Domestic Violence Center. Mary was active in the community with AAUW, Garden Club, Darton Geological Society, Retired Teachers, various alumni groups and the Journey Museum. Mary is preceded in death by her son, Nicholas, her sister Martha, her parents and both husbands. She is survived by her brother David Woodward; her son, John Noyes, Topsham, ME; her daughter, Elaine Noyes, Rapid City; her daughter Marilyn Sullivan, Kissimmee, FL; her son Scott Caesar, Rapid City; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
