Maxine LaFoy Henry, 87, Hill City, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Clarkson Mt. View Nursing Home in Rapid City. She was born in Sioux Falls, on August 10, 1923. Maxine was the daughter of Alfred and Martha Anderson and grew up in Huron. She was baptized and confirmed in the American Lutheran Church. After graduating from Huron High School, she married Winfield Henry. Maxine worked many years as a secretary and spent the majority of her professional life as the executive secretary for the Boy Scouts of America Office in Huron. Maxine was a member of the American Lutheran Church choir and Ladies Aide. Following their retirement, they lived in Florida and North Carolina, and then settled in Hill City. Maxine is survived by her daughters Kaye Nelson, Cary, NC; Marilyn Arwood (Lowell), Fairfax Station, VA; Gayle Black (Robert), Hill City; Gloria Kester (Raymond), Rapid City; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and one sister, Norma Nellis, South St. Paul, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Winfield; her brother Loren Anderson; sister-in-law Frances Anderson and great grandson Joseph Crackel.
