Michael Jay DeYoung, 35, passed away on February 10th, 2026. Michael was born April 22nd, 1990 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona to Denise & Steve DeYoung and big sister DeeDee.

Michael grew up in Chandler, Arizona where he was raised with strong family values and a strong Catholic upbringing. He enjoyed animals, being outside, and spending time with his friends and family.

In 2014, life brought him to Sturgis, South Dakota where he built his life and career. Here, Michael built meaningful friendships and became part of the community he loved. Michael built a career at Lowe Roofing, which he took the upmost pride in. At work he was known for his fun sense of humor. The people at Lowe Roofing became his family away from home.

Michael was preceded in death by his Mother Denise DeYoung. He is survived by his father Steve DeYoung, his sister Deirdre (DeYoung) Hawash (DeeDee), his brother-in-law Jamal Hawash and his beloved niece and nephews Daphne, Drake and Damien who brought him great pride and joy.
