Obituary For Milton Magnuson
Milton Magnuson, 90, Huron and formerly of Rapid City died Thursday Nov. 3, 2011 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center. Milton James ‘Milt’ Magnuson was born Feb. 28, 1921 to Garman and Louise (Kahoun) Magnuson in a farm home north of DeSmet, SD. He graduated from DeSmet High School in 1939. He moved to California where he worked for Lockheed Aircraft. It was there that he married Alyce Boehrs. He was drafted into the US Army in 1943 and served in the Philippines. After his discharge he returned to DeSmet and started the Kingsbury Electric Co-Op. He then took a position as manager of the Moreau-Grand Electric Co-Op in Timber Lake and later was a salesman for Graybar Electric and Plainsco, retiring in 1988. Milt was a life member of the Rushmore VFW Post #1273 and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Rita (John) Pennino, Duxbury, MA and Roxy (Ron) Klein, St. Paul, MN; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his sister Darlene Klinkel, Huron and sister-in-law Audrey (Houck) Magnuson, Bismarck, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gerhard and Sidney; twin sons and his wife Alyce.
