Obituary For Nancy J. Powers

Nancy J. Powers, 64, Rapid City, passed away on August 5, 2017, after a courageous fight against cancer. Nancy was born in Rapid City on December 8, 1952, to Robert and Bonnie (Smith) Powers. She graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1972 and pursued her love of culinary arts. For the past 30 years she was Cook Leader, Chef, at the Officer’s Club at Ellsworth Air Force Base and had received many awards for her skills in the culinary arts.

She was a free spirit who loved to ride her Harley in the Black Hills, especially on the Needles Highway. Her love of riding was her freedom and relaxation that was endless many times in her life. She also loved to bowl, and received trophies which she was proud of.

She is survived by her sister, Maureen Kaul, Roseburg, OR; her brothers, George, James (Barbara), and Michael, all of Rapid City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bonnie, her sister, Gail Powers, sister-in-law, Vickie Powers, and brother-in-law, Jagan Kaul. Her many close friends, from her residence and work over the years, will greatly miss her giving, caring, and all around human touch that she shared with all during her time here on earth. Ride on; live free, to the next level, Nancy!
